Titanic Museum Attraction with several locations in the US, celebrates the famous ship, passengers and crew. The museums shaped like the actual ship, attract millions of visitors each year. Since opening day, each museum has generated a steady stream of visitors from across the country and around the world.
The museum was in need of several interactive areas to help enrich the user experience and increase the visitation value. X Studios was tasked to develop a series of one-of-a-kind interactive stations from the ground up including all aspects of creative, engineering, fabrication and installation. From a ship simulator to ‘Polar’ a digital bear that interacts with kids, our goal was to produce unforgettable experiences that would leave guests with a lasting impression.
The ‘TotTanic’ ship simulation is one of the most engaging simulations we’ve ever created. The visitor uses a real ship-steering wheel and telemotor similar to those used on the actual Titanic. The experience is centered around the last 37 seconds before the impact with the iceberg. The objective is to avoid the iceberg by using both the wheel and telemotor to turn the ship just enough to avoid impact. If accomplished, the visitor "saves" the Titanic and everyone on board.
The creative team at X Studios was in charge of engineering the creative design, animation and programming of this very unique station that leaves a lasting impression for kids and adults alike. A digital puppet interacts with the audience in real-time by using a custom control interface. The powerful application includes full control of the bear’s actions, from waiving to a user, to smiling and even controlling mouth movement to simulate speech.
A fun touch-screen experience was created, teaching visitors how to use a ‘Marconi’ machine, commonly known as a telegraph machine. The virtual environment was created with simple touch screen controls that instructed users to spell out their name as part of a mission. Dynamic audio functionality pulls names from more than 600 common names and “stitches” the custom audio feedback.
